|  | Oxford scientists are using cutting-edge technology to give hope to sufferers of a blood disease that is linked to leukaemia.
The team, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, are using advanced microarray technology to examine the genetic factors involved in myelodysplasia (MDS), a cancer where blood cells do not develop normally.
Forty percent of MDS patients go on to develop leukaemia and it is hoped that the experts’ work will establish the risk MDS poses to a patient at an earlier stage, so treatment can be tailored accordingly.
