Help save lives this Christmas by purchasing a glitter star from Argos in aid of Leukaemia Research, the UK's leading blood cancer charity. The stars, a must for every Christmas tree, are available in sparkly silver or festive red, for a suggested donation of £1 each.
The glitter stars can be found in all the 667 Argos stores across the UK and are part of the retailer's fundraising activities for their charity partner, Leukaemia Research. Argos is giving 100% of the profit from the sale of the stars to the charity.
The retailer is aiming to raise £400,000 by July 2008 for Leukaemia Research for research into blood cancers including leukaemia, Hodgkin's and other lymphomas and myeloma. As well as picking up the glitter stars at Argos stores, customers can also support the charity by ticking the box on their Argos order form and donating 20p.
Community Affairs Manager for Argos, Lorna Liggett, said: "The glitter stars in silver or red, will look wonderful on anyone's tree this Christmas. For a suggested donation of £1, our customers get the chance to add some sparkle and raise money to help save lives. We'd like to say Merry Christmas and thank you to all customers who purchase a star."
Kate White, Director of Fundraising at Leukaemia Research said: "By picking up a glitter star at an Argos store, you will help Leukaemia Research raise funds to find better treatments for children and adults with blood cancers for many Christmases to come.
