The Almighty on stage
The Almighty on stage

Release Date: 8 January 2008

Scottish metal legends The Almighty are touring the UK this January and have released a live DVD with all profits going to leading cancer charity Leukaemia Research, to mark bassist Floyd London's recovery from blood cancer.

In the 1990s The Almighty appeared on Top of the Pops, had ten top 40 singles and three top 40 albums in the UK. Now the band are returning to play 12 dates on their 20th anniversary tour from 19 January to 1 February 2008, taking in venues in major cities including Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and London.

In 2004, bassist Floyd London was diagnosed with leukaemia, a cancer of the blood that kills thousands of people every year. After intensive chemotherapy Floyd is now in remission and is passionate about raising money for Leukaemia Research. In January 2006 the band performed two sell-out shows in London and Glasgow in aid of Leukaemia Research, raising over £21,000 for the charity.

A DVD recording is now available of their 2006 Glasgow Garage gig, with every penny of profit going to the charity. With classics from throughout their career like 'Welcome to Defiance' and 'Jonestown Mind', this DVD will appeal to both die-hard fans and a new generation of metal-heads.

"I wanted to do something to help and raise money for Leukaemia Research so they can keep funding research to save lives like mine every day. So much more work is needed; I was lucky enough in that my cancer responded to the treatment - but some people aren't so lucky", says Floyd.

Box office details for the tour are available here.
