Release Date: 16th August 2006

It’s less than two months until cricket legend Ian Botham embarks upon his 11th charity walk to raise funds for Leukaemia Research and Teenage Cancer Trust.

From 9 October 2006, former England cricketer and national hero Ian will spend nine days walking through 17 cities in the UK to help ‘bowl out’ teenage cancer. More young people die from blood cancers than any other cancer and every day six teenagers and young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the UK.

He will be starting and finishing at an M&S store in every town, passing by a Leukaemia Research centre and a Teenage Cancer Trust hospital.

There are ways for everyone to get involved, from organising a sponsored cricket match to keeping a donation box in a shop or business. Those who take part in exceptional fundraising will have the opportunity to present their cheque personally to Ian at the start of his walk in their nearest city.

Beefy said: “I know that with the support of people of each city, the walk will be a great success. Every penny counts and we can only bowl out teenage cancer if we work together to raise as much money as possible. I’m looking forward to coming to each city and meeting those who have worked hard in their fundraising”.

For more details on how you can get involved and have the opportunity to meet Ian call Georgina Fitt on 020 7269 9003 or visit www.bothamwalk.com
