A LONDON woman is hoping to morph from a couch potato to a fitness goddess, as she prepares to take on the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon next month.
Helen Lintern, 28, is swimming, cycling and running the super sprint-distance event on Saturday 6th August, and hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for the UK's leading blood cancer charity, Leukaemia Research.
Leukaemia Research is a charity close to Helen’s heart, after her mother Patricia, diagnosed with the disease in 1999.
"Throughout my mum's year-long battle with the disease, the treatment she received from leukaemia specialists was just so good I felt I needed to do something to help others fight the illness," says Helen, an Event Manager.
"The triathlon should be a life-changing experience for me. I'm not sure I'm quite at the fitness goddess stage yet but I'm getting there, and it's all in the name of a great cause!" Helen adds.
The Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon is the world's largest triathlon event. Starting at the Royal Victoria docks, over 8,000 entrants will take part in what has become the fastest growing multidiscipline sport in the UK.
Over 450 triathletes will be taking part for Leukaemia Research, making the Leukaemia Research Banana Army the largest charity triathlon team in the event. Together the team hopes to raise at least £250,000 for the charity, which is one of the official charities for the event.
