*Leukaemia Research, established in 1960, is the only national research charity solely devoted to improving treatments, finding cures and learning how to prevent leukaemia and related blood cancers in both adults and children.

Dependent entirely on voluntary donations, we annually commit more than £22.5 million to support doctors and scientists within hospitals and academic institutions throughout the UK to work on a wide range of projects from basic laboratory research through to clinical trials in patients.

Our research has four main goals:

Leukaemia Research funded laboratory*
*To discover the cause of leukaemia and related cancers

*To understand how blood cells become cancerous

*To continually refine diagnostic methods for the rapid and accurate assessment of disease

*To devise new treatments for the routine cure of cancers of the blood

Leukaemia Research is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Board. The NCRI is a UK-wide partnership between the government, charity and industry which promotes co-operation in cancer research for the benefit of patients, the public and the scientific community. NCRI partners comprise the largest funders of cancer research in the UK. For more information go to www.ncri.org.uk

We extend a big thank you to all those volunteers who raised money for us over the ‘Wickes Weekend’.

Among those were some of our researchers, including Dr Kathy Till, who rallied together an army of supporters covering four Wickes stores in the Liverpool area and raising just over £350. This figure was topped by Dr Karen Pulford and team, who collected £400 from stores in Oxford.
LR funded researcher Mark Rosenberg and motherDr Mark Rosenberg made a very memorable contribution covering the Heaton Park Wickes store in Manchester. Mark was accompanied by his mother, who stole the show when she came dressed as Mary Poppins.
