Wearing essential cycle clothing will make you more comfortable when you’re out on the bike allowing you to ride for longer. From cycle shorts to waterproof jackets, Evans Cycles have a huge range to cater for all shapes and sizes, for all types of cyclists from novice through to racers.
Helmets - Even though helmets are not compulsory they are an essential safety item to have when riding. Modern helmets are light weight, well ventilated and very comfortable - now there’s no excuse for not wearing one!
Cycling shorts - Cycle shorts are the number one must have piece of cycle clothing. Cycle shorts are lined with a synthetic padded insert known as a chamois. Designed for an anatomic fit, it prevents chaffing, adding padding and protection between you and the saddle. Cycle shorts are available in a traditional lycra style, or a more relaxed baggy style for those that don’t want the racing look.
Cycle jersey - these are made of moisture wicking fabric keeping you cool and dry on your ride. Many jerseys also have pockets in the back of the jersey so you can carry essential items like a spare tube, a map and some food. Different men’s cycle jerseys and women’s cycle jerseys are available for a gender specific cut and style.
Cycling gloves - A good pair of gloves will have padding under the base of the thumb, where the hand rests on the bar. It will not only help to absorb vibrations and prevent chaffing, but also offer protection in the event of a fall. Men’s cycling gloves and women’s cycling gloves are available.
