*This overview of the paper highlights that the BCR/ABL oncogene appears to be responsible not only for the chronic phase but also the blast crisis.

A quote from Dr Carroll states that “chronic phase is clearly caused by the BCR/ABL cancer gene and treatment of this stage with Gleevec has been dramatically successful. However the cause of the second, fatal stage of the disease…. is not clear”.

This is clearly worth a second look to discover the investigations underway.
