Fifteen children and young people, all of whom have bravely battled leukaemia, were treated to a fantastic weekend at Euro Disney. Among the group were those who had touched hearts on the TV programme ‘Children Fighting Cancer’, which was screened in June, plus mums, dads and siblings.
The trip last weekend (7-9 September) included all the fun of Disney Land Park plus Saturday night entertainment and dinner at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in the Disney Village.
Leukaemia Research chief executive Cathy Gilman says: "The trip meant so much to the families. The children had lots of fun meeting Mickey, Minnie and Pluto and it gave the chance for the parents to have some normal family time away from trips to the hospital and to share their experiences with other parents who understood. It was a privilege to be there with these inspirational people."
The trip was paid for by The Alternative Hair Show, which raises funds for Leukaemia Research. The driving force behind the show, top hairstylist Tony Rizzo from Sanrizz International Hair Salon and Anthony Mascolo, director of TIGI Bedhead and show sponsor, also went on the trip. They proved that Euro Disney is great for all ages by joining the teenagers on Aerosmith, the most daunting rollercoaster!
