Calendar Girls make Bloomsbury date to launch chocolates
Calendar Girls chocolates
Release Date: 10 August 2007
'Calendar Girls’ Angela Knowles (nee Baker), Beryl Bamford and Tricia Stewart appeared at Bloomsbury’s Waitrose store for the London launch of the Calendar Girls chocolates.
The chocolates are made by Yorkshire chocolatiers Whitakers and are sold in aid of Leukaemia Research. There are twelve Neapolitan squares in each box and feature iconic images from the original calendar. Twenty pence from each sale goes directly to Leukaemia Research.
This is just one example of the Calendar Girls’s phenomenal fundraising efforts. Since the the sad loss of John Baker, who died from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma aged just 54 in 1998, the Calendar Girls have raised over £1.3 million for Leukaemia Research.
It is hoped that, in total, the chocolates will raise a further £200,000 for the charity.
The chocolates, priced at £1.99 a box, are available online or by calling 01923 779 181. They can also be purchased from selected Waitrose stores nationwide and at Whitakers' own shop in Skipton.
