Partners and staff from each of the 33 offices of leading financial and business advisers Grant Thornton, took part in the initiative dubbed 'On yer bike!’ as they launched their partnership with Leukaemia Research.
The 1,500-mile journey began at Grant Thornton's Belfast office on 12th September, 2005 but the relay baton has been passed to a new team of volunteers at each one of the firm's 33 offices nationwide, finishing in High Wycombe on Friday 21st October. They extended their support further by nominating Leukaemia Research as their first national charity of the year for 2006 after a firm-wide vote.
“After the tragic loss to this terrible blood cancer of Philip Kabraji, Head of Grant Thornton's Forensic and Investigation Services practice, the strong preference for Leukaemia Research shown by each business area of the firm is a tribute to his memory,” says Michael Cleary, Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton.
“Our thanks go to the Grant Thornton employees who have been supporting us for many years with various projects,” says Kate White, Fundraising Director. “They have shown a vital commitment to helping us in our aims to search for cures and treatments for all types of blood cancers, giving hope to patients and families throughout the UK.”
