Well done to all our marathon runners!
This weekend saw a variety of sports fundraising achievements from our athletic Leukaemia Research supporters.
Over 200 ‘Banana Army’ runners turned out in the sunshine to run the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon to raise money for Leukaemia Research.
It is hoped that our capital runners will raise over £250,000 to fund vital research into blood cancers.
A special thanks to all those who turned up on the day to pound London’s pavements as well as all of the supporters who came along to cheer our runners along the way.
You can read more about the event here and find out how you can take part next year.
Also at the weekend, the City Challenge was a big success with our celebrity team, including our director of fundraising, Alastair Campbell, and The Apprentice’s Tim Campbell, excelling itself alongside teams from top city firms. Well done to Qinetiq, who were crowned overall champions.
Another of Leukaemia Research’s fundraising heroes, Tim Harper, from Saffron Walden, completed a run from one end of Wales to the other at the weekend. Tim ran in memory of his father who died from leukaemia before he had time to undertake his planned long-distance charity walk through Wales. Starting on 14 April and finishing on 19 April, Tim embarked upon the 180- mile journey that his father never had the chance to fulfil, to raise vital funds for Leukaemia Research.
Well done to everyone who took part in a sporty event over the weekend - to find out more about our Banana Army and other running events and triathlons click here.
