Stars from the world of sport turned out to make Ian Botham’s ‘President’s Dinner’ a night to remember.
During the evening, which was held at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday 16 May, ‘Beefy’ was joined by sporting friends, including decathlete Daley Thompson and Paralympic champion Tanni-Grey Thompson, in a Q&A hosted by England cricketer Shaun Udal.
Over £60,000 was raised in total, with a portion of the cash coming from our Chairman of Fundraising Alastair Campbell auctioning off exclusive memorabilia including his own shirt that he wore in the celebrity England v Rest of the World SoccerAid match last year, and a shirt signed by David Beckham, from his time at Manchester United.
Guests included Marks and Spencer Chief Executive Stuart Rose and many of the crew who made last year’s Botham Walk such a success. They were treated to a champagne reception and three-course meal, and were also entertained by a Welsh male voice choir.
