| | Calendar Girls support the Forget Me Not Walks Release Date: 13 August 2008
Strollers are being offered the chance to meet the world-famous WI Calendar Girls as they go the extra mile for the UK’s leading blood cancer charity, Leukaemia Research, at its second Chester Forget Me Not Walk on 7 September.
The Forget Me Not Walk is a 5km sponsored event in support of Leukaemia Research. Sponsored by leading comfort footwear manufacturer, Hotter Comfort Concept, the walk is for people of all ages.
This year’s event follows the success of Leukaemia Research’s first Forget Me Not Walk, held in Chester last September, which raised £25,000 to help the charity fund its vital life-saving blood cancer research.
As well as raising money to fund life-saving research, walkers can enjoy a stroll through historic Chester, walking along the city walls taking in some key heritage sites and learning about the city from Roman Centurion guides.
Entrants will celebrate at the finish with a delicious cream tea at Chester Race Course - included in the £7.50 entry fee.
Calendar Girls Angela Baker, Lynda Logan, Chris Clancy and Beryl Bamforth will attend the Chester Forget Me Not Walk.
Angela says: "The Forget Me Not Walk will be a great day out for all the family. Please join us for this year’s event.- you can bring family, friends and even the dog!
"All the money raised will help Leukaemia Research develop better treatments and cures for blood cancers."
Melissa Houston, Community Fundraising Manager at Leukaemia Research said: "Walking can be great fun for anyone of any age, so whether you’re walking in memory of a loved one, or just fancy some exercise then a Forget me Not Walk is a fantastic opportunity to, at the same time, make a real difference to the lives of many adults and children across the UK."
The entry fee is just £7.50, which covers all administration costs, a cream tea, goodie bag, t-shirt and medal.
To enter, contact Melissa Houston on 020 7269 9063, email walk@lrf.org.uk or visit www.forgetmenotwalks.com.
