Sir Ian Botham is known to millions around the world as one of the legends of English cricket.
Almost as legendary are his achievements as a tireless fundraiser for Leukaemia Research. Sir Ian's inspirational efforts on our behalf have received world-wide recognition and he was knighted. in 2007. He also became President of Leukaemia Research back in 2003, an honour bestowed on him by our Patron, HRH The Duke of Kent.
Sir Ian has now completed 12 walks, raising £millions with 2008 being no exception.
In October 2008, Sir Ian set off on Beefy's Great British Walk, walking in 9 towns in 9 days. For the first time ever, Sir Ian invited the general public to walk with him. The walk was a huge success raising over half a million pounds and Sir Ian hasn't hung up his walking boots yet!
We are already busy planning Sir Ian's next walk, which is planned for 2010.
