Tony Audenshaw dressed as Tarzan, Sean Whewell (Leukaemia Research fundraiser) dressed as Jane and Tom McNally (lymphoma patient in remission) dressed as Leukaemia Research’s running team mascot, a giant banana, undertook the 26.2-mile route through the Greater Manchester area.
Along the way they stopped at a total of twenty six venues and undertook ten minute tasks including packing bags in a supermarket, collecting glasses in a bar, calling a bingo game and reading a children’s' book. The day was rounded off with a fantastic party at Tiger Tiger in The Printworks where Tony's band White Van Man were supported by celebrity DJs.
The latest information can found at the Bananathon Blog.
The trio set off at 10am from The Manchester Royal Infirmary where Leukaemia Research currently funds a large research project into chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), the most common form of leukaemia in the UK.
Leukaemia Research is currently investing over £3.2 million pounds into 11 research projects in the Manchester area.
