Why I’m in the Banana Army!
John Applebee, 42, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1988. Since then he has run numerous gruelling courses in aid of Leukaemia Research, even completing three marathons in three days to raise money for the charity.
"It’s over 18 years since I had my bone marrow transplant. I want to show people that life doesn’t have to stop when you’ve been diagnosed with blood cancer. Those battling against leukaemia can recover and be fitter and healthier than they ever were. Thanks to Leukaemia Research I am able to give something back. I love running for the Banana Army and knowing that I am helping others in their fight against blood cancers."
