About Leukaemia Research

Leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood cancers can affect anyone at any age. Today, in the UK alone, 110,000 men, women and children are living with blood cancers.

Sadly leukaemia is the most common cancer in children, and blood cancers are the main cause of cancer death in people under 35. Our aim is to make sure every blood cancer patient has the best chance of survival. We are the only national UK charity devoted exclusively to improving treatments, finding cures and learning how to prevent all blood cancers.

What we do:

*We aim to give all blood cancer patients the best chance of survival
*We fund research into all blood cancers including:.
leukaemia
Hodgkin's and other lymphomas
myeloma

*Our research programme aims to:
understand why and how cells become cancerous
improve diagnosis
develop new, less harsh treatments
find cures and prevent all cancers of the blood

As well as funding research we provide essential patient information booklets and train expert haematologists for the future. For further details please visit our website at www.lrf.org.uk

We rely entirely on voluntary donations such as the sponsorship raised through our sports events. In 2007 these events raised over £2 million for the charity.
