Bikeathons around Britain

Training for your Bikeathon

Bikeathon around Britain youth entrants at the start

What better way to get prepared for your Bikeathon, than to take on board some great training advice from two cycling icons.

Rob Hayles and Vicky Pendleton have both won a series of world and Commonwealth cycling titles!

Here's what they had to say about preparing for your bikeathon...

-Make sure your bike is working well. It is important to look after your bike and keep it clean, as a clean bike will work much better and will help you go faster on the day!

-Get some practice on your bike. Go out a couple of times before you do a ride.

-Remember to eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. Eating the right food is important for any cyclist.

-On the day make sure you wear the appropriate clothing, as well as your Bikeathon around Britain t-shirt!

-Make sure you know how to change your gears on your bike.
