A new song has been released by ITV’s Emmerdale to help raise money for Leukaemia Research.
Alice Wilson, a character in the long-running popular soap has been battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As her tragic storyline comes to an end, ITV are responding to requests from viewers to release the tune.
Emmerdale fans can celebrate the life of the much-loved Alice, played by Ursula Marsden by sending off for a copy of Sam and Alice’s wedding song. All money raised will be donated to Leukaemia Research.
Ursula’s accurate portrayal has gripped viewers over the last few months. As a supporter of Leukaemia Research, she has been determined to stay as true to life as possible, even going to the lengths of shaving her hair. She says: "When they told me Alice was going to get non-Hodgkin's lymphoma - a type of leukaemia – I wanted to be true to other people’s experiences.”
In her time off from the Emmerdale set she has joined our Banana Army, joining the TVTimes & Asics running team and taking part in the 2005 Flora London Marathon.
Director of Fundraising, Cathy Gilman comments: “Emmerdale has done a wonderful job raising the profile of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and have approached it with a high level of sensitivity which gives a lot of people hope. The money raised from the release of the single will help to ensure that more people survive this disease.”
