Leukaemia Research’s triathlon team captain Alastair Campbell is preparing for a gruelling challenge – taking on the Salford and Michelob ULTRA London Triathlons over consecutive weekends (30 July and 6 August).
Alastair will compete in the challenging Olympic distance triathlons in both Salford and London (1.5K swim, 40K cycle and 10K run).
Alastair said: “Triathlons have become a key part of Leukaemia Research’s fundraising, and I think everyone who has taken part in past events will vouch for the fact that it is a big challenge, but one that is both enjoyable and worthwhile. I got as much satisfaction out of doing the London Triathlon as I did out of doing a marathon.
“This year, I have entered both Salford and London in successive weeks, which may be biting off more than I can chew, but I really hope we continue to see more and more triathletes out there raising money for Leukaemia Research.”
The Salford Triathlon is a new event, organised after the success of Manchester’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games in 2002, whilst the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon, the largest event of its kind, celebrates its 10th anniversary on 5/6 August 2006.
