London solicitor Nicholas Lobb cycled in to the unknown in October last year when he began a solo unsupported cycling expedition of over 6,000 miles along the spine of the Andes - and across some of the worlds toughest terrain.
The 29 year-old started in the southern most tip of the continent, Tierra del Fuego Land of Fire or otherwise known as the uttermost place on Earth, to Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Lake of the Incas and the worlds highest navigable lake.
He began in October as the snows of the Patagonia melted, heading through Argentina, Chile and Bolivia on a journey which has tested the depths of his mental and physical resolve. He plans to arrive at Lake Titicaca in August. The punishing winds and black mists of Patagonia were the first hazards he encounter as he pushed northwards. The snow-capped volcanoes of the Chilean Lake District were a stunning treat followed by the fertile valleys of Chiles famous vineyards. He then crossed the deserts of north Argentina before climbing up to the Bolivian altiplano and to the shores of Lake Titicaca.
At the same time as pursuing his dreams, Nicholas hopes the expedition will serve to raise awareness of the invaluable work of the Leukaemia Research and to raise a significant amount of money to enable our vital work to continue.
