Chris Chittell
Chris Chittell

Release Date: 5th July 2006

Emmerdale star Chris Chittell is hoping his fear of heights won’t get the better of him, as he prepares to take on one of Scotland’s most daunting climbs to raise cash for Leukaemia Research and UCAN.

Chris will take on the Old Man of Hoy, a 450ft sandstone sea-stack on Orkney, on Monday 10 July, after undergoing intensive rock-climbing training in between his hectic filming schedules.

“It’s pretty daunting but I’m looking forward to this new fundraising challenge,” said Chris, who plays dodgy dealer Eric Pollard in the ITV soap. “I’ve done some training climbs in the Dales and now I’m looking forward to the real thing – I hope I can raise a big total to help a great cause.”

Chris has raised thousands of pounds for Leukaemia Research over the years as a committed member of the TVTimes and Asics-sponsored celebrity running team, seen at events up and down the country.
